Are you dreaming of starting your own business? Many people out there do and so did I, the driving force behind running your own business may include: independence, fame, financial benefits and not having any other choice. My journey starting my own online business started while I was working for a big corporate. My first dreams of starting my own business was fueled by growing up in a home where my father ran his own business at first successfully and then with great difficulty after he got sick. A recent study on security culture by Dr Adele da Veiga from UNISA indicated a clear difference between the stick and carrot in the online security culture of South African businesses. Where most business training in 2017 focus on motivation and the development and leadership styles that aim to inspire employees for pro active management, it does not seem to be the case with online security.

Unless you have been living in a cocoon for your entire life, we all know that that the natural environment is being affected by human actions. It is in the news, and it is being taught to our kids in school, governments are making statements and environmental organizations even purchase advertising to inform you of certain environmental issues. SA managers optimistic for growth

SA managers optimistic for growth

1200 managers across South Africa, citizen scientists like you contributed to this research and supported education. The report explored a number of topics related to management and was compiled by Dr Carly Steyn (left) and Dr Diane Bell (Right). The majority of managers (67%) agree that organisations maintained motivation and engagement levels, a fact that is supported by our UNISA employee engagement research. The MIR also found that managers are positive (80%) about the efforts of their organisations to foster diversity friendly environments. Challenges to be overcome include clear and effective communication from top management. Almost half of managers surveyed top managers do not communicate clearly. Despite the obstacles to be overcome the MIR shows their is a good foundation for growth when it comes to business in South Africa.
